Just remember that the rule with IBD is that there *are* no rules - I was diagnosed with CD at 35, and my mother with UC 5 years after that! One maternal uncle had rheumatoid arthritis and the other had "some unspecified intestinal problem" (he was very private, WWII and all that). Every time my daughter (born when I was 42, post-sugery and all, so it's not a death sentence!) has a stomach ache I have to hold very firmly to the reality-check lever, and make damned sure I don't panic, so far they have all been ordinary childhood problems (perhaps the eating sand is not so much "ordinary" as "not uncommon!"), but it is always lurking there. Thanks for a good laugh and another way to tell people what it's like. Bloody good stuff!

Love it! I've had Crohns for almost 30 years, diagnosed when I was 12. I saw so much of myself in there its freaky. I won't say unfortunately, because it gave me better quality of life but I have had to have surgery, I have a perm ileostomy. Best thing I ever did. Wow, this is amazing. Love it! Thank you for posting it so I could find it and read it and not feel so alone. :-) That’s super-great and I think explains a lot of what I have so much trouble explaining in a fun way. I hope you don't mind, but I Facebooked the link to the CCFA (Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America) page. I've been suffering and dealing with this disease for almost 20 years and still find it difficult to put into words the emotional and physical pain that Crohn's causes. You, however, did an amazing job of it. I don't know what drugs your on currently, but I have been able to go from 27 pills a day down to 4 pills of Lialda and an every other week injection of Humira. Alot of the "classic" stuff didn't work for me because mine is in the large intestine as opposed to the small. I am also trying supplements like fish oil and have had good results. Good luck to you and thank you for sharing your story in comic form. Excellent job on your comic. This basically summed up those past ten days in the hospital. Thank you. I just got diagnosed with crones last week, after years of pain and people telling me it was all in my head.
